Take a Step Back in Time

"History is not just found in textbooks. It is the foundation of everything we know." - Victoria Brown

The Right Honourable Baroness Thatcher, or Maggie Thatcher as most people call her,  was leader of the Conservative Party from 1975-1990 and the first (and currently only ever) female Prime Minister of Britain from 1979-1990. Alongside Ronald Reagan, she was one of the main thinkers of the New Right, which revolutionised conservatism, incorporating neo-liberal beliefs. Margaret Thatcher is a bit like Marmite - you either love her of hate her. However, she is one of arguably only two British prime ministers to develop a cult of personality around her (the other being Winston Churchill) and she is a significant figure in 20th Century British History - from the Falklands War, to the Miners Strike, to the Poll Tax and giving people the right to own their own homes. Or, the way my mother remembers her: Maggie Thatcher, milk snatcher.
