Eva Braun is remembered being Hitler’s wife for a day, and some would argue there was little more to her than just a mistress. According to Hitler’s chauffeur Erich Kempka Eva Braun was “the unhappiest woman in Germany. She spent most of her time waiting for Hitler.” What’s more, Hitler kept her a secret.
Born in 1912, Eva Braun was born to a middle class Catholic household and her relations with Hitler during their twelve year relationship before they were married brought an element of shame to her family. Her education constituted of a lyceum and then one year at a business school in a convent. She wasn’t exceptionally intelligent, achieving average grades, but had a talent for athletics. At 17, fresh out of the convent school, Eva Braun met Hitler for the first time when she was working as the assistant of Hitler’s personal photographer, Heinrich Hoffmann. From then on, Hitler dominated her life.
